After the storm: why Cyprus homes need a proper check

If you own a home in Cyprus, you will know how quickly the weather can turn. One week the terrace is full of sunshine, the next the sky over Limassol goes dark and the rain arrives sideways. The storms pass quickly. What they leave behind often does not, and the quiet problems are the ones that cost the most.
Water finds the smallest way in
Driving rain behaves differently from ordinary rain. It pushes under roof tiles, through window seals and into balcony doors that cope perfectly well the rest of the year. A watermark on a ceiling or a swollen door frame can appear days after the storm itself. If nobody is there to notice, a small leak quietly becomes damp, mould or damaged plaster.
Terraces, drains and gutters do the heavy lifting
Blocked terrace outlets and gutters are one of the most common reasons water ends up where it should not be. Leaves, dust and debris build up through the dry months, then the first heavy rain has nowhere to go. Clearing and checking them before the rainy season is a small job. Discovering a flooded ground floor from another country is not.
Wind is underrated
Strong gusts loosen shutters, lift pergola panels, shift roof tiles and send garden furniture across a terrace. Anything loose becomes a risk to windows, cars and neighbours. After a stormy spell, a walk around the outside of the property tells you a great deal, but only if someone is actually there to do it.
The check that matters is the one that happens
Within the visits agreed in your plan, we look for exactly these things: fresh stains, damp smells, blocked drainage, loose fittings and signs that water has found a way in. You receive clear photographs and a plain explanation of what we found. If something needs a specialist, such as roof work or electrical checks, we arrange a qualified professional with your approval and a separate quote.
